Itinerary
Day 1 : Arrival in Nosy Be
Upon your arrival at Fascene Airport (Nosy Be), a member of our “Sunset Mada Agency” team will be there to greet you. You’ll be transferred to your hotel to settle in and begin your island experience. Take the rest of the day to relax and soak up the tropical atmosphere, preparing for the adventure ahead.
Day 2 : Transfer to Kozobe Hotel via Cacao Plantation
Today’s journey takes you from Nosy Be to the mainland. After a short boat trip to Ankify, you’ll travel to the Ankarana region. Along the way, you’ll stop at a local cacao plantation in the Sambirano Valley to learn about the process of producing Madagascar’s famous chocolate. You will spend the night at Kozobe Hotel.
Day 3 : Ankarana National Park
Prepare for an incredible day exploring the famous Ankarana National Park. You will trek through its unique landscape of sharp limestone pinnacles, known as the tsingy, and walk across breathtaking suspension bridges. The park is also home to a variety of lemurs and dry forest wildlife. You will spend a second night at Kozobe Hotel.
Day 4 : The Red Tsingy
Your adventure continues with a visit to the ephemeral Red Tsingy. These striking formations are a natural wonder, sculpted by erosion from a mix of laterite and sand. The vibrant red earth creates a breathtaking and otherworldly landscape, perfect for photography. You will then continue to Diego-Suarez for your overnight stay at Palmarès Beach Hotel.
Day 5 : The Three Bays
Today is dedicated to discovering the spectacular series of bays that define the coastline near Diego-Suarez. You will visit Sakalava Bay, popular with windsurfers, as well as the more secluded Pigeons Bay and Dunes Bay. Each offers its own unique atmosphere and stunning views for a day of beach relaxation.
Day 6 : Emerald Sea & French Mountain
Sail on a traditional boat to the tranquil Mer d’Émeraude (Emerald Sea), a beautiful lagoon with turquoise water. Spend the day swimming and sunbathing before enjoying a delicious lunch of freshly grilled fish on a secluded beach. In the afternoon, you will head to French Mountain for a spectacular sunset view over Diego-Suarez Bay.
Day 7 : Amber Mountain National Park
Journey to the cooler climate of Amber Mountain National Park, a lush rainforest that is a sanctuary for biodiversity. You’ll take a guided walk through the forest to discover its stunning waterfalls and volcanic lakes. The park is also a great place to spot endemic wildlife, including crowned lemurs and various species of chameleons.
Day 8 : Tsingy Mahaloka & Transfer to Ankify
After a morning visit to Tsingy Mahaloka near Ambilobe, with its unique geological formations, you will begin your return journey. The day involves a scenic drive back to the port of Ankify, where you will spend the night at Baobab Ankify, a perfect stopover before your island hopping adventure.
Day 9 : Nosy Komba & Nosy Tanikely
From Ankify, you’ll take a short boat trip to the islands. The first stop is Nosy Komba, where you will meet the playful and semi-tame black lemurs. Next, you’ll head to the protected marine reserve of Nosy Tanikely for an unforgettable snorkeling experience among vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life.
Day 10 : Relaxation at La Canopée
Enjoy a full day of rest and relaxation. You will be staying at the tranquil residence La Canopée in Nosy Be, offering the perfect opportunity to unwind by the pool, explore the beautiful surroundings, or simply enjoy a quiet day to recharge after your mainland adventures.
Day 11 : Nosy Sakatia
Discover the “Orchid Island” of Nosy Sakatia, renowned for its pristine beaches and lush vegetation. This is one of the best locations in the area for a unique experience: swimming alongside the magnificent sea turtles that frequent its crystal-clear waters. The island offers a peaceful and unforgettable encounter with marine life.
Day 12 & 13 : Nosy Iranja Bivouac
Embark on a magical two-day excursion to the picturesque Nosy Iranja. This stunning pair of islands is connected by a brilliant white sandbar, visible at low tide. You’ll spend the night in a traditional bivouac on the island, enjoying a magical evening under a sky full of stars.
Day 14 : Lokobe Reserve
